No worries about legal-illegal, all handsets will run on the country's network

From now on, you don’t need to worry about your illegal handsets. Because no handset coming to the country’s mobile network is being shut down and all handsets will run on the country’s network.

All handsets will be automatically registered in BTRC’s National Equipment Identity Register (NEIR).

Already BTRC took necessary steps to fulfill this project. Before that, from October 1, BTRC had issued a final notice to disconnect illegal handsets.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar told Tekshahar.com on Thursday that the use of technology devices in digital Bangladesh should not be allowed to cause any suffering to the people. BTRC’s job was to keep a detailed database of all the handsets operating in the country, which is being done successfully as well.

Also, he added that the NBR authority can check from where the handset was brought from if they want.

BTRC acting chairman Subrata Roy Maitra told Tekshahar.com on Thursday that no legal or illegal handset is being shut down. We have already taken initiative to give a message in this regard too. Will be officially informed soon to everyone as well.

Moreover on July 1 this year the regulatory body launched the National Equipment Identity Register (NEIR) on a trial basis.

Now no handset is being disconnected in this new decision.

The general people seem so satisfied with this decision as they were suffering immense difficulty while registering their handsets.

Also, at present, there are about 16 crore 41 lakh mobile phone subscribers in the country. About 1.5 crore mobile handsets are imported every year and about 20 million mobile phones are being integrated in the country as well.
